A couple weeks ago a reader of one of my portuguese blogs asked me what I get from writing articles to help people. She wanted to know what was the main reason for me to do that. One may first think of money. The money I made with blogs, so far, isn’t enough to pay the bills or allow me to quit my day job. It isn’t enough even to buy a gift for my beloved one. So definitely, it isn’t money.

In my opinion, this is the hardest question one can try to answer: who am I? We all, one day or another, we have faced a situation where we had to say who we are. But, who are we after all?
This is a tough question, because it’s not possible to describe a human being only with a few words. We are much complex, full of qualities and flaws. We are unique. We all have different ways, different principles, dreams and feelings. And that makes it quite impossible to describe us.

If one asks a thousand people what they want from life the answer will be this one: to be happy. People spend their whole lives trying to be happy. Everyone wants to be happy. We’re always looking for happiness, and we never seem to find it. But, then, why is it so hard to find happiness? Why is it so hard for us to be happy?
Although we spend every single day looking for happiness, we never find it. And that’s because we’re looking in the wrong place. We tend to hope we’ll find happiness outside: either someone will come and bring it for us, or buying new things (houses, cars, clothes), or making a lot of money. The truth is none of this will make us happy. We can have a time of joy, but it will fade away so quickly we won’t even notice.
